La comunità “Broadway!Black” celebrerà il Freedom Day (o Juneteenth) del 19 giugno con un nuovo premio , l’Antonyo Award, che sarà assegnato quest’anno per la prima volta agli spettacoli di Broadway e Off-Broadway, grazie a un voto popolare. Le nomination sono state annunciate da Bryan Terrell Clark e Kristolyn Lloyd e la prima cerimonia di assegnazione, ovviamente quest’anno solo cerimonia virtuale, si terrà appunto venerdì 19 giugno. “Gli Antonyos intendono onorare i collaboratori del teatro nero, dagli attori al palcoscenico e ai dirigenti, amministratori e designer delle compagnie. Tutti nella nostra comunità meritano di essere riconosciuti in quello che speriamo sarà un evento divertente, autentico, celebrativo”, ha detto Drew Shade, attore tra gli organizzatori della manifestazione. Tra i nomi che prenderanno parte alla cerimonia come presentatori o interpreti ci sono Audra McDonald, Jordan E. Cooper, LaChanze, Shereen Pimentel e L Morgan Lee. I vincitori sono determinati dal pubblico che ha espresso un voto on-line su queste candidature:
